Last June 18 we launched Abra on Kickstarter, the sustainable modular vest by Nebra Skay Studio. Abra and the other products of the capsule were the synthesis of a year long research, launched online with a campaign that has seen us at work for all the previous months.

A lot of work but also a lot of emotion. We were so eager to celebrate, that we chose to do it asap, without waiting for the end of the fundraiser. The reason is very simple: beyond the economic result, our great achievement was finally sharing with you the results of our work.

So, on Friday 21st June, we opened the doors of our studio for the Abra Launch Party, an exhibition – and a party – to meet our community and tell them all about the project.

2 months ago – Abra Launch Party 🌵🌿🪴🦺🪴🌿🌵 Community and open studio. Since day one we wanted these two aspects to be at the center of the Nebra Skay project. Sharing the developments of Abra with our community, our friends, inside our studio has been a beautiful thing and we hope to open the doors to more and more people! #TrustTheProcess

Abra vest welcomed the participants at the entrance. It was displayed in a botanical installation inspired by the visual identity of the product and the campaign, curated by Francesco Paolo Gassi.

On our cutting table, we have then set up a journey to discover the different stages of design and production of garments. We started from all the raw materials used: TENCEL fabrics, Econyl regenerated nylon webbings, PLA bioplastic components printed in 3D. Then, we presented the prototypes, a work in progress to perfect the garment and arrive at the final paper model – yes, that was also exposed!

The participants touched the products and scanned with their smartphones the NFC tags on the labels, thus accessing our digital passport containing all the information about the garments and the supply chain. They tested directly the softness and quality of the vest and t-shirts. The reviews?! Super positive, TENCEL to touch conquers anyone.

In another corner of the studio our friends from CAOS Puglia have set up and activated a 3D printing station, to show you the realization of the pieces in PLA bioplastic. For the occasion, we chose to print live the keychain gadgets, which we gave exclusively to the participants.

Johnny, our art director, had an idea on how to immerse – literally – the people in the atmosphere of Abra: thanks to an Ai tool, participants were projected in life size in the desert and post-apocalyptic sceneries of Abra, also wearing incredible looks.

The music selection was curated by Marco Caricola, musician and record producer from Puglia – also great friend and supporter of Nebra Skay since day one. Someone will remember his performance at MUNDI in 2022 wearing our t-shirt from the ZEIT-GEIST collection.

The outdoor space was equipped with drink&food and relax area. Our studio was perfect for the Abra event and we had no doubts. We have thought from the beginning as a hybrid space to share with the community and other realities like us, to make events, talks, training meetings and dissemination.

We wanted to do things big and we did it!

Everyone was there: friends, partners, the tailors who collaborated with us, all the people who have been following us for a long time and whom we finally had the opportunity to meet. Bingo and Zelda were there too!

After spending a lot of time working behind the scenes, it was exciting to meet you, answer your questions, share our experience and future projects.

Thanks to all those who participated and came back to see us in the following days to watch the exhibition still set up.

We will do it again for sure, follow us on social media so you don’t miss the updates.

See you soon <3
